Cecil Sanchez Day, Sr., 55, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Cecil was born on June 9, 1970, in Waco, Texas, to Albert and Santos Day. After moving to Dallas, he attended South Grand Prairie High School, where his outgoing nature and quick sense of humor made him well known. A natural class clown, Cecil loved making people laugh and had an unforgettable way of lighting up any room. Cecil had a love for music and was a great dancer who enjoyed good company.
Family was the center of Cecil’s life. He treasured time with his siblings, sons, and grandson, especially when everyone was just simply together sharing laughter, stories, and memories. Cecil was a devoted and loving father who shared a deep bond with his sons. He treasured their time together, whether laughing, watching or attending sport events or simply talking about life. His sons carry forward his humor, spirited personality, and the joy he brought to every moment. Becoming a grandfather brought Cecil immense joy. His grandson, “Aaron boy,” was the light of his life. Cecil cherished every moment they shared, from teaching him new things to working outside on different projects, listening to music, and creating memories filled with love and laughter. In his final days, Cecil showed strength, courage, and heart. He will be remembered for his joyful laugh, playful spirit, kind heart, and the way he made everyone around him feel welcome.
His legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Day, and his brothers, Johnny Day and Robert Day. Cecil is survived by his sons, Thomas Toledo and Cecil Day Jr.; his beloved grandson, Aaron Cecil Day; his loving mother, Santos Sanchez Day; sisters, Patricia Caravantes and Linda Day Anderson; brother-in-law, Rob Anderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
