Carol Jean (Johnson) Portwood, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in McGregor, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Jim Cox officiating and burial to follow in Robinson Cemetery in Robinson, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Carol was born on July 29, 1947 in Clifton, Texas to Nancy (Potter) and Orville Johnson. She was a longtime resident of Waco and a member of Church on the Rock.Carol retired from TSTC in 1998 where she worked as a secretary. She was in the Red Hat organization for seven years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Orville Johnson. Carol leaves behind her daughters, Christine Sulak and husband, Charles of McGregor and Cathy Portwood and husband, Kenneth Jackson of Waco; granddaughters, Caitlin and Ashley Portwood of Waco; grandsons, Kegan Ochoa of McGregor and Hayden Clark of McGregor; sister, Juanita Davis and husband, Wendell of Waco; nieces, Diana Bumguardner and husband, James of Bellmead and Wendy Davis of Lacy Lakeview.
