Carmen Lopez Garcia, 79 of Waco passed away peacefully with her family and friends on January 13, 2015. Our mother went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, her son, Randy, father and mother, Jose and Elida, brother, Tony, and husband Alfredo Garcia. She was surrounded by family and friends who loved her, dearly. Our mom was born in Waco on July 23, 1935 and later moved to San Antonio where she lived and worked as an Occupational Therapist for 50 years. She was a long time active member of Guadalupana's at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in San Antonio. Our mother was a Strong, Educated, Nurturing, Independent woman and a Fighter like no other. She was a five year Pancreatic Cancer Survivor. Our mom is survived by children Zina Arismendez; Mario Garcia and daughter-in-law Nora; Leticia Gonzalez and son-in-law Roger; and son, Jose Garcia. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Miranda, Brendan, Skyllar, Illiana, RJ, Madeliene, Xavier, and one great grandchild, Elijah. As well as her sisters Adela and husband Ralph Salinas, Connie Lopez, Lupe Velasco and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.Private viewing will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015, for family. Visitation will be held from 5-7p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Connally-Compton Funeral Home, 4400 West Waco Drive, Waco, TX 76710. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2015, at Saint Francis Catholic Church, 315 Jefferson Avenue, Waco, TX 76701. Interment will follow at Oakwood CemeteryArrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
