June 10, 1949 ~ August 17, 2009

Carlos Q. Gonzales, 60, departed this life on Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home in Waco after a courageous battle with cancer with his wife of 41 years by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2009 at St. Francis on the Brazos with the Rev. Roman Burgos as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Viewing will start at 8 a.m., Thurs., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 20, and Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Carlos was born on June 10, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Opal Quinones and Charlie Gonzales. A short time later they moved to Waco where he remained until his death. Carlos was a very faithful, active member at his parish where he was a member of Knights of Columbus, Cursillistas, and taught religious education for many years. This year he was recognized with the "Light of the World" award for his dedicated services at both St. Francis and in his community. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and by far a most faithful and loving husband. He loved spending time with his family whether it was fishing, camping, sports, traveling, or just telling his funny or scary, outrageous stories ~ anything to make his family happy. He was a very loving and caring man who touched many lives along the way.
Preceding him in death was his father.
