Brenda M. MicklerFebruary 11, 1946 ~ August 26, 2007 Brenda M. Mickler, 61, of Waco, passed away at a local nursing home on Sunday, August 26, 2007. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Brenda Mae was born to parents, Emma Josephine Zanter Mickler and John J. Mickler, Jr. on February 11, 1946 in Waco, Texas. She loved to work in her garden, read, crochet, work on her computer, and enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. Brenda graduated from Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and immediately obtained her LVN license. She began working for Hillcrest and soon got her RN degree from McLennan Community College. She left Hillcrest in 1976 where she began working at the Marlin VA Medical Center. In 1981 Brenda graduated from UT Arlington with her BS degree. In 1989 Brenda went to Winston Salem, North Carolina where she worked as a traveling nurse. She then returned to work at the Marlin VA Medical Center. Later she transferred to the Central Texas Veteran's Healthcare System, retiring in February of 2006. In September 2005 Brenda received her Master's in nursing from the University of Arizona in Phoenix. She was a member of Bruceville-Eddy United Methodist Church and the Women's Agape Group. Those left behind to cherish her memory are sister, Mary Mickler of Lorena; "sister in life", Sharon Van Dyck of Marlin, close friend, Elizabeth Repking of Hewitt; numerous cousins; beloved dogs, Emme, Molly and Pepper; church family; and friends.
