Billy Clyde Talley died on August 17, 2003. Arrangements under the direction of Connally/Compton Funeral Directors in Waco, Texas.Mr. Talley was born Nov. 11, 1926, in West, Texas, to Vera Young Talley and William Meadows Talley. He left high school to join the Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. He married Laura Ozella Leonard in Abilene, Texas, July 27, 1946. He was a graduate of Abilene Christian College. He entered a lifetime of service by serving as a minister at churches in Texas towns such as Sheffield, Meadow, Anton, Plainview and Dimmitt. Mr. Talley entered a teaching career in the late 60's and influenced students in Dimmitt, Lubbock State School, Meadow and Friendship High School. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and residing with his wife at Camp Blue Haven in Las Vegas, New Mexico. His life of service continued as he lovingly nursed his wife until his recent illness. Bill and Ozella moved from Lubbock to Waco, Texas, in 1999 where they were members of Crestview Church of Christ.Survivors include wife, Ozella; sister, Monette Callmorgan of Missouri; sons, Scott and wife, Linda of Waco, Randy and wife, Jerice of Anniston, Alabama; daughter, Darla Young and husband, Jerry of Tulia, Texas, and Kenny and wife, Debbie of Colleyville, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Talley of Abilene, Paul Talley and wife, Jane of Olatha, Kansas, Mark and David Talley of Alabama, Sondra Jack and husband, Jason, and their children, Karston and Kade of Plainview, Texas, Stacey Steward and husband, Eddie, and children Heavenly, Preston, and Damion, Sabrina Young and Shauna Young of Tulia.The family would like to thank the staff at Greenview Nursing Home, Regent Care Nursing Home and Providence Hospice Care for lovingly serving Bill in his final days.
