Obituary

Billy Dean Black, 77, died Sunday October 21, 2018 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas following a sudden illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Delores (Russell) Black; his son, Jeff Black and wife Emily; his son, John Black; his daughter, Jennifer (Black) Collins and husband Tim Collins; and 6 granddaughters and many other friends and family.
Born in Gatesville, Texas, he was the son of William and Odell Black. At a young age, he and his family moved to Waco, Texas.
He graduated from University High School in Waco, Texas. He met Delores at Beverly Hills Baptist Church and called her for a date to see a movie. They fell in love and eloped.
He attended Baylor University and worked in the telecommunications industry for many years.
Billy had a passion for Christ and served the body of Christ as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and as a mentor to many. He was humble, gracious, forgiving and had a fantastic sense of humor.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, October 24, 2018, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors in Waco, Texas.
