Bettye R. DowdyJuly 16, 1941 – September 3, 2010 Professor Bettye R. Dowdy, 69, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 East League Street where Dr. Willie E. Clark is pastor. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Bettye was born July 16, 1941 in the Central Texas area. Bettye was an educator for 41 years and worked at Wal-Mart for 21 years. Bettye was also in the Army Reserves. Those left behind to cherish Bettye's memory are her only loving daughter, Sevela Michelle Walker, and loving son-in-law, Darrell Wayne Walker I; grandchildren, Darrell W. Lil "D" Walker II, Tiffany Monique "T-Low" Walker, Bianca A'Jahn Walker, Hailee Noel (Marie) Walker; great god son, Elijah Paul Boarman; aunt, uncle, cousins and other extended family members too numerous to be written; adopted daughters and sons from TSTC and Wal-Mart; and an unbelievable amount of friends dear to her heart.
