Benny Joe Jones, age 89, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Waco. A visitation will be held at Waco Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. 

 Benny was born on February 15, 1936, to Benjamin Finis Jones and Thelma Lou Williams Jones. He graduated from Riesel High School and later served his country in the United States Marine Corps. 

He married the love of his life, Billie Mascott Jones, and together they raised their family and shared a life built on hard work and caring for others. Benny worked at General Tire for 30 years before retiring. After retirement, he continued to serve his community as a Deputy Sheriff with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Department, working under the late Sheriff Jack Harwell. Benny stayed busy with his kids, especially through Southern Little League, where he enjoyed coaching and being involved in their activities. He liked watching sports, especially the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns, and had a special interest in women’s basketball. Benny and Billie enjoyed working in the yard together. They took pride in keeping their flower beds looking good and the grass green and manicured, and that love of yard work was passed down to their children. Family meant everything to Benny. He was always checking on his kids, calling them often just to make sure they were okay. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and kept up with what was going on in their lives. He was especially thankful for his daughter Toni, who lived in Waco and was always there to help him after his wife passed away. Benny was a hard-working man who believed in providing for his family and taking care of the people he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Billie Jones; his brother, Bobby Lee Jones; and his daughter-in-law, Christine Renee Jones. He is survived by his children Michael Joe Jones and wife Cheryl, Corby Scott Jones and wife Yvette, Bradley Jay Jones, and Toni Rene Riggs and husband Tommy; his grandchildren Amanda Burke, Trevor Jones, Braxton Jones, Kase Jones, Kendyl Pipkin, Caleb Pipkin, Cayden Pipkin, Thomas Riggs, and Chris Riggs; and his great-grandchildren Cierra, Walker, Addie, Lacey, Blaze and Archer.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Trevor Jones, Braxton Jones, Troy Kinder, Bill Hlavenka, Joey Hlavenka. Grandson, Kase Bradley Jones will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
