Barbara Jane Wilks, born on January 6, 1940, in Valley Mills, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Waco, Texas. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Barbara's journey through life was marked by her vibrant spirit and caring nature.

Barbara dedicated many years to a successful career in the accounting department at Hillcrest Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 2014. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she had a unique gift for creating memories through her artistic pursuits. An avid journal keeper and storywriter, Barbara found joy in writing and spent countless hours crafting, knitting, and sewing. Her beloved quilts, each made with love, were given to all her grandchildren, a testament to her nurturing spirit and deep affection for her family.

Travel held a special place in Barbara’s heart, and she especially cherished the numerous girls' trips she embarked on with her friends, filled with laughter and adventure. Whether reveling in the joy of dance at the Melody Ranch or enjoying the company of those she loved, Barbara’s bubbly personality and zest for life were truly infectious.

Barbara graduated from Waco High School and attended Texas State Technical College, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. Deeply rooted in her community, she was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and participated actively, enriching the lives of those around her.

Among her proudest accomplishments was the creation of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, a heartfelt initiative she undertook to bring comfort and smiles to the children staying at the hospital where she worked. This selflessness and care for others reflected Barbara's character and her commitment to making the world a better place.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her son, Richard Glockzin; daughters, Patricia Braunschweig, Tammy Smith and husband Thomas, and Laura Meyer and husband Robert; grandchildren, Sean Braunschweig and wife Devin, Christine Glockzin, Ryan Braunschweig, Elizabeth Westbrook and husband Patrick, Christopher Smith, Shelby Meyer, Bradley Braunschweig, Tori Maholland and husband Andrew, and Garrett Meyer; great-grandchildren, Haleigh Westbrook, Bearett Maholland, Logan Westbrook, and Maesie Maholland; her sister-in-law, Sharon Fisher; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, who will forever cherish her memory.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Homer and Gracie Lee Fisher, and her siblings, James Fisher, Carole Ann Clingman, and Michael Fisher.
