Arlis Lindbergh "Lynn" Love, 89, of Valley Mills, TX, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 13, 2021. On March 4, 1932, he was born in Gatesville, TX, son to Raby and Eva (Hurst) Love.
Lynn married the love of his life, Shirley Smith, on July 26, 1952 and was a beloved husband for 69 years. He was a devoted Daddy to Donna and Lisa and a proud Pop to 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, and was excited about the upcoming arrival of a great-great grandson. In addition, he was a loyal brother to his siblings and a caring uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Drafted into the United States Army in 1952, Lynn served our Country during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a valued community member, driving a truck for Central Freight lines for over 45 years.
After retirement, Lynn was an avid outdoorsman and loved country dance, often stopping the car to dance when Waltz Across Texas played on the radio. He was known as the "can man" of Valley Mills for his commitment to recycling soda cans and was happiest surrounded by family. A visitation celebrating the life of Lynn Love will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Connally Compton Funeral Directors in Waco followed by a graveside service on Thursday, November 18 at 10:00 am at Waco Memorial Park.
Mr. Love is preceded in death by his parents, Raby and Eva Love, and his brothers, George Love, Curtis Love, and Billy Love.
Mr. Love is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Smith) Love of Valley Mills, daughter Donna (Love) Bankhead and husband Jerry of McGregor, daughter Lisa (Love) Plemons of Waco, sister Mary (Love) Brooks and husband Dave of McGregor, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
