Mrs. Ara White, 96, of Waco, died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 2 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Rev.'s Clarence Hearron and Dale Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the funeral home.Ara was born March 27, 1908 in Eddy to the late Howard and Nettie Blasingame Harry. She married James Riley White May 22, 1933. He died May 2, 1976. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. For several years she assisted her husband in her home as he was a self employed electrician. She loved gardening, and up until a few years ago she still tended her flower garden. She was proud of her nicknames given her by her great-great-grandchildren ~ 'Grandma Snow White' and 'The White Grandma'.Our Mother was a perfectionist, and this always aggravated us until years later when we became much like her, in that we are a little picky ourselves! She was an immaculate housekeeper with everything having its own special place; nothing ever being misplaced. She could find anything in just a matter of minutes. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of our clothes.Mrs. White was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Juanita Hearron, on November 8, 2000, in Dennison.She is survived by daughters, Lometa Gilley of Waco and Rita Posey of Tallahassee, Florida; step daughter, Gladys Turpin of Houston; son-in-law, Clarence Hearron of Duncanville; daughter in law, Grace White of Houston; step sons, J.W. White and wife Frances, Cecil White and wife Nelda, both of Waco; sister, Jean Smith of Lubbock; half brothers Bobbie Harry and Johnny Harry, both of Dallas, and Woodie Harry of Houston; half sister, Jennie Fore; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Dwayne Spiares, James Spiares, Chad Gilley, Richard Gilley, Nicholas Gilley, Craig Smith and Michael Frillou.The family would like to thank the Hillcrest Hospice, The nurses on 4A at Hillcrest, and Dr. Shipp for taking such good care of Mrs. White.
