Anita Corbell
Holt
November 8, 1935 – June 6, 2026
Spring Valley Road Church of Christ
10:00 - 11:00 am (Central time)
Anita "Nita" Hope Corbell Holt passed away peacefully at her home in Lorena, Texas on June 6, 2026 at age 90.
Born on November 8, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas, she graduated from Lubbock High School in 1954 and later attended Texas Tech University. It was at church in Lubbock that she met the love of her life, Francis Marion Holt Jr. He had recently moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech when Francis first saw Nita in a red gingham dress and declared he would marry her. They were married on September 2, 1955, and shared 65 years of marriage before Francis's passing in 2021.
Anita was a faithful member of the Spring Valley Rd Church of Christ and lived a life devoted to God, family, and service to others. As a homemaker, she joyfully cared for her family and embodied Christ's command to love one another. She was the very definition of a servant's heart. She taught by example what it means to put others before yourself, to persevere through hardship with grace, and to extend kindness regardless of circumstance. Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Granny," she will be remembered for her famous “Granny's Pizza,” her warm hospitality, and her “granny-isms” including "Waste not, want not," "Be ye kind to dumb animals," "Oh horrors!” and more.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Marion Holt Jr.; her daughter, Roxanne Sula; her sisters, Jo Hale and Frances Hyman; and her brothers, Louis Albert Corbell Jr. and Kenneth Corbell. She is survived by her children, Bruce Holt and wife Deborah, Angela Baze and husband Joel, and Greg Holt and wife Melinda; her grandchildren, Christy Welschmeyer and husband Jonathan, Josie Adams and husband Joshua, Caleb Baze and wife Laura, Jared Holt, Austin Holt, and Ashley Nucera; and her great-grandchildren, Eva and Liam Welschmeyer, Marcus and Adele Adams, and Cora and Alan Baze.
A private family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Anita’s life on Saturday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Spring Valley Rd. Church of Christ in Hewitt, Texas.
