Mr. Andrew (Andy) Schmedthorst, age 85, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Waco, Texas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Reverend Robert Kobler officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors.

Andy was born October 1, 1932 to Edmund Herman and Gertrude (Paar) Schmedthorst in Otto, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Waco and graduated from Waco Tech High School in 1950. Mr. Schmedthorst served in the United States Army from 1953-1954 stationed in Germany. Then he served in the Army Reserves from 1955-1966 while he attended Baylor University. Andy married the love of his life, Jean Mayberry on November 5, 1955 in Waco. He was member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Andy enjoy wood working, play golf and card games with his friends!

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Schmedthorst, sister-in-law, Sue Holland; brother-in-law, Freddie Holland; nephew, Keith Becker.

Andy leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife of 62 years, Jean Schmedthorst of Waco; sister, Gladys Becker and husband, Walter of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
