Obituary

Alvah D. Brown, 57, of Lorena, passed away unexpectedly October 21, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be 1pm Saturday, October 26 at Tonkawa Park, 8540 East 5th Street, Crawford, Texas 76638, with Steve Daywitt officiating. Alvah was born October 26, 1955 in Waco to W.D. and Sondra Brown. He was an avid rodeo enthusiast from a young age, riding his stick horse and later becoming president of the Rodeo Club at University High School, where he graduated. He continued his rodeo career while attending Tarleton State University, riding bulls and performing as a rodeo clown until he sustained injuries in a bull riding accident. He began his professional career in construction, starting out as an iron worker and working his way up to project superintendent. He enjoyed canoeing, fishing, camping and was involved with the Boy Scouts in Lorena and Cameron. He was preceded in death by sister, Sona Dea Brown; maternal grandparents, Alvah and Fara Holmes and paternal grandparents, Doyle and Adis Brown; daughter, Courtney Gail Brown and mother.He is survived by wife Lisa Shelton; children, Justin Chase Brown and wife Jennifer, Ashley Nicole Welch and husband Josh, Adrianna Leigh Shelton, Austin "Gator" Shelton; grandsons, Garytt Kort and Westyn Dean Brown. He is also survived by his father W.D. Brown and wife Opal; sister, Shira Zippe and husband Kirk and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
