Allene Lummus, 83, of Waco, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, June 13, 2016 in Chapel Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 12th at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Mrs. Lummus was born on December 11, 1932 in Waco, Texas to James and Ada Kirkland Bailey. She married Don P. Lummus on March 28, 1953 in Waco and they celebrated over 63 wonderful years together. Mrs. Lummus worked for the Waco Tribune and retired from Baylor University. She loved her dogs, watching birds, plants and her flowers but her true love was her family; especially her grandkids. Mrs. Lummus was a former member of the Gideons Auxiliary and Columbus Avenue Baptist Church since 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Survivors include her husband; Don P. Lummus of Waco, sons; Don Craig Lummus and his wife, Isabelle of Grapevine and Jeffrey Brent Lummus and his wife, Deidra of Hewitt, daughter; Lisa Williams of Houston and grandchildren; Brandon Lummus, Jared Lummus, Ashton Lummus, Donald Williams, Catherine Williams and Heather Williams.The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Wesley Woods and Bluebonnet Hospice for their love and care that they gave to Allene.Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
