Alfred G. Toscano Jr. passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held at Connally Compton Funeral Home on July 27, 2016 from 6pm-8pm, with Rosary service at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church at 10am on July 28, 2016 with Interment at Memorial Park.Alfred was born January 22, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. He was inspired to pursue education as a young man, and was the first of his family to receive a college degree. He went on to receive his Masters Degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Alfred helped many people through his career in social work, and dedicated 30 years of service to the Waco V.A. Medical Hospital, where he tirelessly served veterans of Central Texas. Alfred was also a teacher, who helped people receive their G.E.D or become United States Citizens. He was proud to be a teacher and was respected and admired by his students.Alfred married Tammy Porterfield Toscano in 1990, and they had three daughters together. Alfred was a dedicated father and husband, and enjoyed spending his free time with his family. He was intelligent, generous, funny, compassionate and loved all animals. Of the things he valued, he cherished his faith, family and education most. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father who will be forever loved and missed.Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo G. Toscano and Esther M. Toscano. Survivors include wife, Tammy, daughters, Ashley, Megan and Courtney, sister Theresa Suarez and her husband Joe.In lieu of flowers, the Toscano family requests that donations be sent instead to St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org) or to ASPCA (aspca.org) in Alfred's honor.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
