Adele McKinnon, 95, passed away at a local nursing home on Thursday, August 26, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Chapel Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jim D. Chandler officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Adele was born on April 1, 1909 and adopted years later by William Thomas and Lula Viola Norris Allmon. She graduated from Dawson High School and also North TX State Univ. with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Adele taught 4th grade at Brook Ave. Elementary and Hillcrest Elementary in Waco for 23 yrs. and then 1 year in Lindale before retiring in 1973. Adele married W. A. McKinnon on June 30, 1935. Adele was a member of BrookView Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school many years. She was currently a member of Central United Methodist Church. Adele loved to read, work crossword puzzles and watch her professional baseball on TV.Preceding Adele in death were her father in 1958; mother in 1967 and husband in 1963.Surviving Adele are her daughter, Polly Groppe & husband, Ernest of Woodway; grandchildren, Tony Sorrentino of Crawford, Patricia Sorrentino of Woodway, & Robert Groppe & wife, Sheryl of Crawford; great-grandchildren, Kevin Beauchamp, Traci Villa, and Morgan & Matthew Groppe; and great-great grandchildren, Melana & Mikalynn Villa.Memorials may be made to Central U.M.C.
