Louise Blunschi

November 8, 1926 — August 17, 2019

Our precious Louise (Granny), 92 of Lorena, Texas entered heaven on August 17th, 2019.  She was born November 8th, 1926, in Coryell County, to Louis Allen and Edna Mae (Tow) Wendeborn.

Louise graduated from Turnersville High School where she played on the ladies Buffalo basketball team. She met her first husband, Gayle M. Pruiett, while working at Bill’s Café in Gatesville.  They were married for twenty-five years and had four children.

Gayle - a Bataan Death March survivor and Japanese POW, remained in the military after his release, together their family traveled the world until he retired and settled in San Antonio, TX.  Louise a dedicated military wife was extremely proud of her family that followed Gayle’s military commitment and tradition:

US Navy                    Son - Jerry Pruiett and Granddaughter Jacqueline Gutierrez

US Marine Corp          Sons - Michael Pruiett and Flavil Pruiett

US Army                     Grandson - James Pruiett and Jeff Biddle

US Air Force              Great - grandson, Will Appl

In 1976 she married Willard S. Blunschi Sr.; together they loved gardening, gambling, football, traveling, and family gatherings at their home in Lorena, Texas.  Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations were very special, memories we will cherish.  They also enjoyed their home in Eutaw, Alabama where they attended Auburn football games until Willard was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and eventually lost his battle in 2012.

Louise, a huge Chicago Cubs fan, scheduled her days around their baseball games.  In fact, she would seldom answer the phone during a Cubs game, and if she did, it was a very brief conversation.  She celebrated her 90th birthday shortly after watching the Cubs win the 2016 World Series – she could not have been happier.

She is preceded in death by parents: Louis Allen Wendeborn and Edna Mae (Tow) Wendeborn, husband, Willard Blunschi Sr., brother, Clinton Wendeborn, sisters, Myrtle Winfield (Edwin), Edna Mae Smith (Arlice), Jewell Dominek (Johnnie), brother-in-law, Robert C. Manning, son-in-law, Alex McCulloch, daughter-in-law Kimberly Pruiett, step-daughter-in-law, Luci Blunschi, nephews, Bobby Lynn Smith and Eddie Paul Dominek.
